In the Faculty of Science - Department of Chemistry - the following position is to be filled as soon as possible

W1 – Junior Professorship for Inorganic Complex Chemistry and X-ray spectroscopy with tenure track to W2 (f/m/d)

The appointment is as a temporary civil servant, initially for three years. After a positive interim evaluation, the employment relationship is extended for a further three years, and after a successful final evaluation, the assumption of a lifetime professorship is promised.

Applicants are expected to actively represent the focus “Inorganic Chemistry and X-ray Spectroscopy” at the Department of Chemistry in research and teaching. This requires experience in a preparative discipline and in X-ray spectroscopy. The preparative orientation should complement the existing portfolio of topics and the focus on “sustainability” of the Department of Chemistry in the field of inorganic molecular chemistry, e.g. in catalytic applications. Profound knowledge and experience in the field of X-ray absorption and X-ray emission spectroscopy and their theoretical consideration are required. An interdisciplinary and international CV with which the applicants demonstrate their potential to strengthen the location is desirable.

This profile is intended to complement and strengthen the existing interdepartmental and interfaculty research activities in Paderborn. A possible connection to the Center for Sustainable Systems Design (CSSD) is advantageous. Active participation in coordinated third-party funded projects is expected.

The future holder of the position should represent the field of inorganic, organometallic and sustainable chemistry in teaching in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs for students in the major and minor subject, in particular also in the teaching profession. Collaboration in academic self-administration is expected.

Requirements:

Applicants are expected to have extensive demonstrable experience in the preparative chemistry of molecular metal complexes as well as homogeneous catalysis or photochemistry with metal complexes and in X-ray spectroscopy at synchrotrons and/or free X-ray lasers. Special emphasis is placed on the ability to cooperate and connect with the working groups of the Department of Chemistry. Teaching experience in chemistry degree programs is desirable, as is experience abroad.

Hiring requirements:

§ 36 Paragraph 1 Numbers 1 to 3 HG NRW (completed university studies, pedagogical aptitude, relevant doctorate). In addition, the requirements of Section 37 Paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Act of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia must be met.
