In the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Mathematics at the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology – Research Group Digital Systems and Integrated Circuits (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lennart Bamberg, starting October 1, 2026) – the following position as a
Technical Specialist (f/m/d)
(up to salary level according to 11 TV-L collective bargaining agreement, depending on individual qualifications)
is to be filled by October 1, 2026 with 100 % of the regular working hours. This is a permanent position.
The primary role involves establishing, operating, and continuously improving the technical, digital, and experimental infrastructure of the Department of Digital Systems and Integrated Circuits. The position supports research and teaching activities in FPGA, ASIC, and system development, as well as the operation of modern development and IT environments.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Establish, operate, and further develop the IT, laboratory, and development infrastructure of the department
• Support research and teaching activities in digital systems, embedded systems, and integrated circuits
• Maintain and enhance development environments, servers, and technical laboratory infrastructure
• Assist in the development and commissioning of FPGA, ASIC, and electronic prototypes
• Provide technical support to students, research staff, and laboratory practical sessions
Recruitment requirements:
• Completed university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; alternatively, a completed technical vocational qualification with further professional education (e.g., certified state-recognized technician)
• Interest in digital systems, embedded systems, or microelectronics
• Independent, meticulous, and team-oriented working style
• Good English communication skills
• Proficient skills in Linux and programming
• Willingness to familiarize yourself with new technologies and areas of responsibility
• Experience with embedded systems, ASIC/FPGA design, PCB development, or generative AI is desirable but not required
